Elect Bob Fifer

About Bob

I was born and raised in El Paso, TX, and moved to Colorado in 1992.  Although I always envisioned myself in law enforcement, I attended Metro State College and moved up quickly in management for TCI Cable.  I began a new career at CenturyLink in 1998 and have held several management positions within the company. Some of those positions include International Engineering, Network Design and currently I develop executive and strategic business cases and plans.

I met my beautiful wife and her son in 2002.  One year later we were married under one condition by my wife, I had to move to Arvada.  In 2007 we were blessed with identical twin boys (adding to the 5th generation Arvada family).

In 2008, we opened our first business, Downtown Toys & Games.  We had a great time tending to our customers and giving back to our community.  The economy hit us in 2010 and we were unable to financially sustain the business.  Through the business, I gained a great experience and a deeper appreciation for small businesses and their hardship through difficult times.

I have volunteered for many local organizations, events and youth sports which have recognized me with the President's Volunteer Service Award.  Some of the roles and volunteering opportunities I have had include:

  • Serving as 2010 President of Historic Olde Town Arvada (HOTA)

  • Being a member of Arvada-Jefferson Kiwanis

  • Being a member of Arvada Historical Society

  • Graduate of the Transit Alliance Citizen's Academy

  • Participant of Colorado's Future Through Civic Engagement

  • Recipient of the APEX Service Excellence Award

  • Umpiring & coaching youth baseball

  • Managing youth football teams

  • Assisting kids (and their parents) to fly kites at the Arvada Kite Festival

  • Ralston House .5k Endurance Challenge and volunteering committee

  • Helping at the Santa House - a program to assist families in need during Christmas

  • Working with the Arvada Police Department's Light Up the Holidays

  • Assisting with food drives and fund raising for the Arvada Food Bank

I am currently the City Council representative to the following Boards and Committees:

  • Jefferson County R1 School District Coordinating Committee

  • APEX Coordinating Committee

  • Arvada Fire Protection District Coordinating Committee

  • Arvada Public Art Committee

  • Arvada Council for the Arts and Humanities (alternate)

  • Arvada Gold Line Committee (alternate)

  • Arvada Sister Cities (alternate)

What is important to me is our:

Quality of Life

Families are the foundation of our City, I will hold this in my values with every decision I make.  I will focus on growing businesses & employment opportunities, I will emphasize safety measures and I will provide sound financial decisions and strong leadership that will improve the quality of life within Arvada. I will continue to focus on what is important to us as a community, as businesses, as families and as individuals.

Community

Sense of Community is what makes our City unique.  Communities thrive on the spirit of the residents who care passionately about it, and there is no better way to foster that spirit than through programs of volunteerism.  I plan to help put the city's resources behind those programs that will generate a significant impact to our community.

Partnerships

I will continue to strengthen relationships with our fire districts, recreation district, schools, county and state government.  These partnerships are extremely important to the quality of life we experience everyday in Arvada and I will find progressive ways to expand those relationships.  We need to continue to encourage new businesses while promoting the health of the businesses we already have.  I will promote businesses that are innovative, show prospects for growth and demonstrate their commitment to the community.  Local businesses contribute to our quality of life and help strengthen communities.

I encourage residents and businesses to be involved and stay active within each neighborhood.  I believe simple actions will improve the quality of life and foster a sense of community.

My passion will be working hard for strong local leadership and making thorough and sound financial decisions, while focusing on what is important to you...

Our schools, families, and community.
